Elfcapades 2013: Day 25 – Merry Christmas!
The big day is finally here!
It started this morning when Bennett woke up around 6am. I let him stay in his room for a while, hoping he’d go back to sleep, but by 6:45 I knew that wasn’t happening, so I went in and got him up. And just a minute after we’d gone back to climb into my bed, Cooper came in and asked, “Mom, did Santa come today?” And then it all started. Cooper had to go wake up Natalie in order to go downstairs. Once we were all up, right about 7:00, we headed downstairs. Cooper was worried at first glance because he couldn’t find our stockings, and only saw a picture of Elfis on the mantle. But then he realized the stockings were on the floor (must have been too heavy to hang with all that loot inside!). Phew! That would not have been good if our stockings were missing!
Here are Cooper & Natalie taking a first look at our Santa goodies.
Notice on the mantle, Eflis left us another picture of himself this year. (Must be his official portrait; it’s the same picture he left us last year.) He did write a note on it though, that says, “See you next year! Love, Elfis.” Oh great.
He did do something nice for me, although I’m not convinced it makes up for all of his trouble-making this year. He left me a card with a gift card inside and a note that said to take the kids to get fro-yo at Menchies. YUM! We love Menchies!!!
Cooper was thrilled to be able to dig right in to his stocking:
And Natalie, too:
And Bennett went for the big present first:
Santa even brought us another remote control toy, a set of bumper cars. The boys had to start playing with those right away!
After we finished tearing through our Santa presents, we ate a yummy fruit and cinnamon roll breakfast, then headed out to the living room to dig into our presents to each other. Right now it looks like a tornado made it’s way through my house. This place is a disaster! We all received a ton of great stuff – toys, clothes, etc. Spoiled, yes. All of us.
Here’s Bennett smiling at another one of his new presents, Sully from Monsters, Inc. (He LOVES Monsters!)
We had a little bit of time to enjoy our new presents this morning, but not much because we had to run out by lunchtime to go to our final (6th of 6) Christmas event at Nana & Papa’s house. We spent the afternoon there, and although Bennett was not on his best behavior (not feeling good at all), we had a nice time, great dinner, and got spoiled all over again with too many more presents.
When we were leaving tonight, Cooper asked me, “Mom, do we have another Christmas tomorrow?” Thank goodness, no. The last five days have been a whirlwind. Unfortunately, tomorrow is a regular get-back-to-work (and school) day around here, but I am looking forward to our weekend coming up so I can get this house put back together, try to find a home for all of this new stuff we have, and just have a minute or two to relax! This has been a busy month!
